SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse 2024 update

Dates added and a date change for this popular series

An extra five qualifiers have been added to the calendar this year, so if you’re a racehorse owner and would like to enter the series check out the new dates. In total fourteen thoroughbreds will have the chance to compete in SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse at HOYS this year. The remaining qualifying shows for the rest of this year range include The National Hunter Supreme Championship Show and the main arenas at both the Defender Burghley Horse Trials and the NAF Five Star International Horse Trials at Hartpury, as well as lower key, indoor shows.

Date change

The Racehorse to Riding Horse qualifier at the National Hunter Supreme Championship Show will now be held on the Monday of the show – 19^th August at 8am. The judges remain, as per the schedule; Katie Hunnable-Jerram (Conformation) and Jody Sole (ride).

Of the remaining qualifying shows, two thoroughbreds apiece will qualify at Equifest, The National Hunter Supreme Championship Show and SEIB Search for a Star at Hartpury. There will be one qualifying ticket at the NAF Five Star Hartpury International Horse Trials and one at the Defender Burghley Horse Trials.

Sports Horse Breeding GB (SHBGB) Chair, Emma Gibson said: “We are delighted to be holding a Racehorse to Riding Horse qualifier for Horse of the Year Show for the first time at this year’s National Hunter Supreme Championship Show on the 20th August at Addington Equestrian. The Society was founded for the promotion of thoroughbred stallions and breeding and now has expanded to include most breed types. It is a pleasure to highlight the thoroughbred horse at our show.”

SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse organiser, Nicolina MacKenzie said: “We are thrilled to be holding a qualifier for the first time at the National Hunter Supreme Championship Show. We secured an additional two R2R places at HOYS in 2023 for amateur riders who now have their own exclusive qualifier. This has led to increased options for all our competitors and we are very much looking forward to working with SHBGB.”

Thursday 1^st August 2024 at Arena UK, Allington Lane, Grantham, Lincolnshire NG32 2EF – courtesy of Equifest

Saturday 10^th August 2024 at Hartpury College, Hartpury House, Gloucester, GL19 3BE. During NAF Five Star International Horse Trials. ONE horse to qualify.

Tuesday 20^th August at the National Hunter Supreme Championship Show, Addington Equestrian Centre, Buckingham MK18 2JR.

Bank Holiday Monday 26^th August 2024 at Hartpury College, Hartpury House, Gloucester, GL19 3BE.

Sunday 8^th September 2024 at The Defender Burghley Horse Trials, Burghley House, Burghley Park, Stamford PE9 3JY.  ONE horse to qualify.
